American Fusion files patent for Texatron fusion engine architecture
American Fusion Inc. (OTC: AMFN) has filed a new US patent application covering housing and chamber design elements intended to support plasma confinement, pulsed energy delivery, and future commercial deployment of its Texatron fusion engine platform. The filing, US Patent Application No. 19/701,742, is the latest addition to the company's intellectual property portfolio as it works toward testing a 5 MW pre-production system in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The company, based in Southlake, Texas, describes the Texatron platform as aneutronic fusion technology, a design approach that aims to avoid the high-energy neutron output associated with the most common fusion reaction (deuterium-tritium). Aneutronic fusion is theoretically attractive because it reduces material activation and radiation shielding requirements, but it is widely regarded in the scientific community as considerably harder to achieve than conventional fusion approaches. American Fusion did not provide independent scientific validation of its confinement results or plasma performance data in its release.
Development status
The company said it has completed the frame of its 5 MW pre-production Texatron unit at a third-party fabrication facility in Midland-Odessa, Texas, and expects to take delivery in the near term. It submitted a certification application to the Texas Department of State Health Services in February 2026 and said that regulatory process is progressing. Testing facility preparation and equipment procurement are described as ongoing. No test results, plasma performance metrics, or net-energy figures have been published.
Chief Legal Officer Michael Smith said the filing protects innovations intended to support future product development and commercialisation. Executive Chairman Brent Nelson said each additional patent strengthens the foundation of the platform while the company advances toward testing and validation milestones.
