Jackery launches HomePower 1000 Plus V2 portable backup station
Jackery has introduced the HomePower 1000 Plus V2, a 1,800W portable power station aimed at residential backup, outdoor worksites and off-grid recreation. The unit carries a retail price of $749 and is available now through Amazon and the company's own website, with an early-bird price of $619 running until 3 September.
The device starts at 1,024 Wh of onboard capacity and can be expanded to 11 kWh by adding Jackery's 2 kWh modular battery packs. Sustained output is rated at 1,800W, with a 3,600W surge ceiling distributed across four pure sine-wave AC outlets. The company says the configuration can drive roughly 80% of standard household appliances. Additional outputs include 140W and 30W USB-C Power Delivery ports, an 18W USB-A port, and a 12V automotive socket.
Performance and chemistry
At the core of the unit are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, a chemistry favoured for safety and cycle life over the cobalt-bearing cells found in many consumer electronics. Jackery rates the pack to retain at least 70% capacity after 6,000 full charge-discharge cycles, which the company projects to a 16-year operational lifespan under daily use conditions. The unit charges to 80% in 36 minutes via AC, or to full charge in approximately 47 to 50 minutes using combined or flash-charging modes. Solar input is supported at up to 400W, with a full solar charge achievable in under three hours, the company says. Operating temperature for charging extends down to -10°C, which the release positions as an advantage for field deployments.
An integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) function switches connected devices to battery power within 10 milliseconds of a grid interruption, which the company says is fast enough to keep desktop computers, routers and refrigeration online without a reboot. A companion mobile app allows users to assign priority to individual circuits, so that as charge depletes, lower-priority loads are shed before critical ones. The unit also supports time-of-use (TOU) scheduling to charge during off-peak electricity tariff windows.
Market context
The portable power station market has expanded significantly since the pandemic, driven by rising grid-outage frequency in the United States linked to ageing infrastructure and more frequent extreme weather. Jackery competes in a crowded consumer segment alongside EcoFlow, Bluetti and Goal Zero, with differentiation typically turning on cycle life, recharge speed, weight and the depth of the modular ecosystem. The move toward LiFePO4 chemistry is broadly shared across the category, as manufacturers respond to consumer concerns about fire safety and longevity.
The HomePower 1000 Plus V2 sits at the lower end of what analysts would class as semi-stationary home backup, below the kilowatt-scale residential battery systems sold by Enphase, Tesla and sonnen that integrate directly with solar inverters and grid metering. Jackery's proposition is a lower installation barrier and genuine portability, at the cost of smaller capacity and no grid-tied functionality. At $749 for the base unit, the price point is accessible for households seeking outage resilience without a full home-energy-system installation.
The broader context is a US grid that the Department of Energy has identified as needing substantial reinforcement, with climate-linked outages rising year on year. That trend sustains consumer demand for portable backup even as grid-scale storage investment accelerates. Whether Jackery's consumer segment constitutes cleantech in the capital-markets sense is debatable; the company's route to market is retail consumer electronics rather than project finance or utility offtake.
